East 77th Apartment Combination

The typical New Yorker’s dream came true for these clients when they created an apartment combination by purchasing the one-bedroom unit next to their existing two-bedroom apartment. This clean and contemporary combination resulted in a large, four-bedroom home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The large open space includes a generous foyer, living room, dining room and kitchen, perfect for entertaining and relaxing.

With the additional space Studio ST Architects expanded the original bathroom to create a larger primary bathroom, his and her walk-in closets, a comfortable home office for two working parents, a sun-filled family den, and a bedroom and bathroom suite for their daughter. During the apartment renovation, the second kitchen was converted into a spacious storage closet.

While keeping to a set budget, we picked durable and beautiful materials which reflect the homeowners’ wish for a practical non-ostentatious home. However, the owners “splurged” on a home automated system with in-wall speakers, sophisticated lighting controls and motorized shades, which according to the owner have been “life altering” and their favorite feature.
